Portrait Albums

I thought I'd do a little blog post about one of my favourite products I offer.  As soon as I saw these fine art albums from Folio, I knew I needed them!  Beautiful archival paper and inks and tactile covers bound in a gorgeous range of colours and materials.  Plus they're base in Yorkshire, and I'm trying to use as many local suppliers as possible!

They are proving a popular display choice for families who have chosen my Life Through The Seasons package. It really brings to life our four shoots over one year.

Rebecca & Jemima popped into my office yesterday to collect their album and I thought I'd share a couple of photos.  We designed an album around two shoots we did, one around autumn time, and the other a Christmas at home shoot.  Rebecca is a fellow lover of all things Christmas so we were feeling a little festive!

If you are coming along to Open Studios, I will have all the albums out so you can have a little peep for yourselves!

There's Something In The Woodshed

It was a great day down at Hardcastle Crags yesterday.  I was running one of my photography workshops for the National Trust.  I always get so much out of these days and it's great to meet folk who are passionate about their photography.  You can read a little more about the workshops here.

I was eagerly watching weather reports during the week and asked people to bring their waterproofs as it looked like we might get a bit of rain (well we are in a valley in West Yorkshire!)  We have a few practicals during the day.  For the last session, the lovely folk down at Hardcastle Crags gave me the keys to the treasure trove that is the woodshed.  It was tipping down outside, so I think we were all relieved we had a new place to discover that had a roof!  It was such an amazing little space.  Even though it was raining outside, the sun was still managing to break through, and we were treated to little pools of light.

Andrew, who was on my workshop, was gently persuaded to sit in a little pool of light for a photo.

Beauty in the simple things.  I am now hoping they might let me back in there for a shoot!

Sissy's Portrait Shoot

It was a dramatic weather day up in Heptonstall for a recent portrait shoot with Sissy.  Blustery wind and dark clouds, then patches of bright sunshine interrupted by rain showers.  Sissy certainly didn't mind - so off we tootled, with her Mum Debbie, to their allotment.  We were greeted by a beautiful glow of spring daffodils.  Thankfully, Sissy had packed a combination of outfits befitting the changeable weather, and she set to.

In-between digging and watering, there were reading and chat breaks.

 And preps for the beans!

Time for a bit of a run around with big sister Grace..

And after all the afternoon's activities, a well earned slice of cake.

I'm looking forward to popping back up to the allotment soon to see how Sissy's efforts are coming on!
