Jo & Andy Pre-Wedding Shoot

I’ve been looking forward to posting these images, but for reasons that will become clear, I waited for Jo and Andy to send their wedding invites out to their guests!

I met Jo last year.  We had heard about each other through mutual friends.  Jo owns and works at Beauty Point in Sowerby Bridge.  She specialises in holistic therapies and beauty treatments.  We worked together on a wedding shoot last year for Hebden Bridge Town Hall.  You can see a few images here.

I was so excited when Jo contacted me to say her and her partner Andy were getting married and wanted me to be their wedding photographer! I met up with Jo, Mum Betty, and Jo and Andy’s daughter Annabel, just before Christmas.  Aided by Betty’s scrumptious homemade mince pies, we discussed the details of the day and organised a pre-wedding shoot at the amazing venue that is Carr Hall Castle.  Jo and Andy are having their wedding breakfast and reception here.  It is breath-taking.  On a cold December day, we met at the castle, had a quick cup of tea thanks to Nicola who is Events Organiser there, and started taking a walk around the grounds.

As a photographer, I was spoilt for choice with potential locations and backdrops.  I took a few of Jo Andy and Annabel together to start the shoot off.

Then a few of Jo and Andy.  I love the story of how they eventually got together.  Jo and Andy are both from Barkisland and met each other when they were 17 yrs old as they used to catch the same village bus.  They always said hello and had certainly noticed each other!  Jo used to call Andy ‘the boy on the bus’ to her friends.  Then life got in the way and Jo moved away from Yorkshire for her work.  A few years later, Jo returned, they met up again, and the rest as they say, is history!

The low winter sun also made an appearance, putting the icing on the cake, and this is the image they have chosen for their wedding invitation.  I'm so honoured to be a part of their day.  Here's looking forward to April 20th!
