Mini Sessions - Yorkshire Portrait Photography

We're reaching that time of year, when the light is golden, you can see your breath in the morning, and stews and soups are the comfort food of choice!  It's also one of our favourite times of year for our portrait photography.  Leaf crunching, puddle splashing, scarves, wellies & bobble hats all set against those beautiful autumnal hues.

If you've been thinking about booking a portrait shoot with us, we're going to be holding our Wild Things In The Woods mini portrait sessions in the October half term.  These taster sessions have always proved to be very popular, and give you a good idea of what we're all about!  We're so pleased to be holding them down in Hardcastle Crags, Hebden Bridge, a location we love.  We will be setting up camp very close to Gibson Mill.  Each mini session will be for 20 minutes, and it's £45.00 which includes a complementary 9"x6" fine art print (the regular cost for our Life In The Great Outdoors sessions is £150 with a £50 credit towards display products).  We'll be setting up a bell tent, and we're really pleased that we'll be joined by children's author Liz Flanagan who will be reading from her new book Dara's Clever Trap from 12-2pm.

Eddie's Autumn Shoot

It's a feel good Friday blog with this happy fella!  It's not too long ago when I posted photos from a summer portrait session with Eddie.  You can see it here.  Now it's time for his autumn shoot.  Judging by the last shot we took on the day, I think we will be capturing a few first steps for his winter shoot!

Hattie's Brave Shoot

When part of my research for a shoot is to sit down and watch a film in the afternoon, especially when that film is the wonderful Brave, I love my job just that little bit more!  I have to say when I saw it at the cinema the first time around, a few tears were shed, and judging by the sniffs from some of the adults around me, I wasn't the only one!  It's a beautiful film - great characters, adventures, and of course, the story.  I love a good soundtrack, and it was great to hear Julie Fowlis singing on the title song too.

Anyway, back to the shoot.  I went round to see Hattie, and we sat down to talk about what she would like to do in her Dream For Life Shoot.  I knew just the spot in Hardcastle Crags.  The trees down there were the perfect backdrop.   So off we went for a run around the forest, chasing willo the wisps, climbing trees, and Hattie showcased her archery skills.  She makes a fantastic Princess Merida I'm sure you'll agree!

Family Portrait Shoot In The Sun

With autumn well and truly set in, and the weather being a bit murky of late, I thought I'd share a bit of sunshine.

It was one of those beautiful sunny days at the end of summer when I met Ella-Rose, Theo, and their parents Emily & Sam.  We had a little walk into Hardcastle Crags with fishing nets and a picnic in hand.  We set up camp within the pine trees by the weir, which was twinkling in the sunshine.  There was fishing, searching for fairies, and mini frog finding to be done.

The shoot ended with cupcake eating aplenty, something I think should be built into all shoots.  The cupcakes were made by Emily, who runs the marvellous Fancy Fondant (check out her creations, they are rather splendid!).  With full bellies, the sun on our backs, and a few extra freckles, we left our little haven.  Here are a few shots from the afternoon.
